I recommend this app because it works as advertised within the limits of the iPhone microphone, and it’s actually free with no subscription paywall bullish¡t. The green box indicating “in-tune” is a bit loose, but the center line is on pitch. As far as the aesthetics of the app, I would prefer an analog-style needle to the horizontal line guide, but it doesn’t change the function. Definitely a user malfunction, if not trolling.
Don’t listen to the reviewers who claim they broke a string trying to tune with this app.
This app works, and it appears to actually be free. I would have paid a one-time fee, but a subscription doesn’t make sense for a tool that should operate standalone on my phone. I downloaded GuitarTuna, and deleted it immediately when I opened it for the first time as saw it had a monthly subscription signup required to use it at all. That app cost $10, which I still consider a worthy investment considering the length of time I used the app. I was a fan of Guitar Toolkit, before it was abandoned by the developer and stopped functioning.
